September 2018 Updates

September 19th, 2018

We've partnered with the company Fan Cloth to provide our students with orchestra merchandise.  If you or your student would like to purchase, click on the link below, or fill out the order form coming home with your student today or tomorrow.  Students can turn in paper copies to me in class.  The order will be shipped to Riverwood and handed out in class.  The sale ends on Friday, October 5th so make sure to order ASAP if you want anything!  The link to the online order form is http://shop.fancloth.com/30328/434184

September 1st, 2018

One month down, nine to go!  Here's some things to be on the look out for in September:

​

1. Concert Attire:  Students new to the orchestra program need to order concert attire ASAP!  Students will need to be in full concert attire in order to receive full credit for their concert grade.  Tuxedos are $110 and Dresses are $70.  Checks can be made out to RICS BOB.  The link to the concert attire form is https://form.jotform.us/71167768310155.

2. Concert Attire Fittings and Volunteers: Starting September 4th through September 7th, students will be fitted for their concert attire during class time.  Our booster concert attire chairperson, Pam Arrigo, is in need of volunteers to help her fit students.  If you are able to help, please let me know and I'll pass your information along to Pam.

3. All State and Solo and Ensemble:  The first round of All State Auditions are Saturday, October 13th at Autry Mill MS, and Solo and Ensemble is Saturday, November 10th at Webb Bridge MS.  Registration fees are $12 per group/soloist for Solo and Ensemble, and $25 per student for All State.Students who wish to participate in Solo and Ensemble or audition for All State need to let me know no later than Friday, September 7th.

4. Student Officer and String Quartet Meetings:  All Student Officers will meet on Tuesday, September 4th from 3:45-4:15 in my classroom, rm. 903.  We will go over expectations and discuss areas of improvement in the program.  There will be an interest meeting for students wanting to participate in String Quartet on Thursday, September 6th from 3:45-4:15 in rm. 903.  Any violin, viola, or cello player is welcome to come!
