April 2019 Updates
April 15th
Tonight is our general BOB meeting, starting at 6:30pm, in the RICS auditorium. The meeting is open to all families who have a student in band, orchestra, or guard. Agenda items include election of the 2019-2020 officers, updates on the construction to the Rvierwood Performing Arts Facilities, update on the new band director hiring process, and 2020 trip information.

April 8th

I hope everyone had a fantastic spring break! We’re in the home stretch for the school year and have some exciting final orchestra events. Read more about them below.

1. General BOB Meeting
There will be a Band and Orchestra Booster General Meeting on Monday, April 15th in the RICS Auditorium, starting at 6:30pm. The meeting is for parents of Band, Orchestra, Marching Band, Jazz Combo, Color Guard, and Winterguard members. Agenda items included 2019-2020 BOB officer elections, a performing arts facilities update, an overview of the new band director hiring process, and general updates (like the 2020 Disney trip). Parents interested in a BOB leadership position should contact parent volunteer Michelle Kaplan (mstkaplan@bellsouth.net). Parents of incoming 9th grade students who will be in one of these groups next school year are welcome to attend.

2. Riverwood and Ridgeview Orchestra Bowling Tournament
On Saturday, April 20th from 1pm-5pm, our cluster will be having an orchestra bowling tournament at Stars and Strikes Bowling Alley (8767 Roswell Rd., Sandy Springs, GA). There will be prizes handed out to the winning orchestra program and gift cards for the top 3 bowlers. The cost is $15, and this includes bowling, pizza, soda, and a 2 hour unlimited video game card. This is a great chance for our students to meet one another and have fun before Milestones begin! Students must let Ms. Luhrs know if they plan on coming by Thursday, April 18th.
3. Spring Cluster Concert
Our final concert of the school year will be on Tuesday, May 14th at the RICS Auditorium starting at 6:30pm. This is a combined cluster concert with Ridgeview. There will be a dress rehearsal on Monday, May 13th from 4pm-6pm. Attendance at both events is mandatory for all orchestra students.

4. Band and Orchestra Banquet
It's time to celebrate the amazing accomplishments of our students at our annual band, orchestra, and guard banquet. The banquet will take place on Thurdsay, May 16th from 6pm-8pm at Heritage Sandy Springs Center (6110 Blue Stone Rd., Sandy Springs, GA 30328). We will need some parent assistance with setup, serving, and clean up.
